- Do not rinse your mouth for at least half an hour. Rinsing the mouth prevents the formation of the blood clot that will ensure healing after the extraction and causes a delay in the healing of the wound.
- After tooth extraction, your physician will be able toe bite the tampon firmly for 15-20 minutes and swallow normally. Collecting saliva in the mouth and constantly spitting it out can prevent a blood clot from forming and cause bleeding to continue.
- Bleeding, which may be in the form of leakage, can continue for 6-48 hours. Blood can stain your saliva. Therefore, do not panic thinking that you are bleeding a lot. You can consult your dentist about this.
- You may feel pain after the procedure. You can take a painkiller other than aspirin in consultation with your doctor. Do not worry, the pain may reach its highest level, especially when you are drowsy.
- Since the teeth are attached to the jawbone, bone is exposed after extraction. For this reason, you may think that there is a piece left from the extracted tooth. Do not touch your tongue or any object to this area. In a few days, the open bone will be covered with your gum.
- Avoid hot, spicy foods that can cause irritation in the extraction site.
- Do not smoke or drink alcohol for 72 hours after the extraction.
- If possible, place a high pillow under your head and rest after tooth extraction. Avoid hot baths on the first day after extraction.
- Do not eat until the numbness in your mouth has passed, as you may unknowingly bite into the numb areas and cause injury.
- Continue with normal oral care 24 hours after tooth extraction.
- If you have more than 24 hours of bleeding, a bad taste and odor in the mouth, call your dentist immediately.
- If you have had surgery on your tooth or stitches after a tooth extraction, don’t forget the follow-up appointment.
