January 2, 2024
- Do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours after the implant treatment. Avoid hot drinks for the first 24 hours and only eat soft, cold foods (cold puree, dairy products and ice cream). Avoid hot food and drinks for the first week.
- Following implant operations, it is recommended to apply gentle pressure with a soft, sterile tampon to stimulate coagulation and stop bleeding.
- It is considered normal to see blood for 48 hours after surgery. You may even see traces of blood on your pillow when you wake up in the morning. For the first 24 hours, be careful not to spit or rinse your mouth to allow the wound area to start healing.
- Do not brush your teeth or use mouthwash on the evening of the operation.
- After 36 hours, it is recommended to use mouthwash twice a day for 10 days. Gargle for 1 minute, spit and then do not eat or drink for 30 minutes.
- Do not smoke or drink alcohol for the first 72 hours. It is strongly recommended to reduce or even quit smoking during all procedures.
- If antibiotics or painkillers have been prescribed by your dentist, use them as recommended.
- Swelling may occur in the first 2 to 3 days. It may occur in the operation area, on the cheek or under the eyes. This condition resolves spontaneously up to 10 days. It is recommended to apply ice to the operation area during the first day (apply ice for 5 minutes, wait 10 minutes, continue for the first 24 hours) and sleep with your head up for the first 2 nights.
- Your stitches will be removed at the control session after 14 days. Please contact your doctor for detailed information.
- On the day of your implant, if you have immediate or early loading (temporary teeth) on the implant, pay attention to your soft diet and oral care for 3-4 months until your permanent teeth are made. If you experience any displacement or fracture of your teeth, please make an appointment with your doctor immediately.
- Radiographs (dental and jaw films) may be taken several times during the treatment. Please follow your doctor’s instructions on this subject
